Hiding Electrical Wires

Please Notice the date above of this blog. I use a different method now in hiding the wires. If you look at some of my current blogs you can see how creative I have gotten in hiding these wires. I still like the hard wire method the best.

I promised to show a step by step on hiding my wires from my lights. First of all, I always look for a a good place to put them in the ceiling. I then start looking for a good corner to hide the wires in:

 I take some quick grip glue and glue your wires into place in the corner

While the glue dry, I add tape to keep them in place. Before I add clay, I add electrical tape to the wires. The clay goes OVER the wall which will cover the tape and wires. If you add the wires in areas where base board/trim will be (which is usually in the corners and op or bottom of the walls) please note that the trim hides the wires very well and you can wallpaper over it that way better too (you won't need electrical tape over the wires and some wood trim have grooves cut into them to fit the hard wire in neatly).

Adding Floors

Well I added some of the Hardwood floors. I used Corona Concepts Siding strips to do the floors in the attic. I then started adding the roof supports:

Roof Added

 This house has been sitting in my garage since my last post because We were trying to sell our home. Well, we took it off the Market for now because this is my busy season and I HAVE to finish this house BEFORE I move cause I promised the buyer that I would!!

Well, I felt some of the trim is a bit plain so to add some detail I bought some wood strips from Hobby Lobby with a nice design on it. I then went through LOTS of it trying to miter the ends correctly

I also changed the trim color because the Green was not moving me and I don't Think the owner of this house was in love with the color either (Though she never said she was or wasn't).

 
I have been making some Architectural detailed items to add to this house and so now, I am adding more lights and things so that I will only have to the clay left to add on the house Here is where I am so far and this blog will be updated Daily now. 

The roof popped in very easily. The roof parts were perforated so they did bend easily for me. The roof trim was easy to figure out. The Verge Board trims were the parts that had me guessing for a while .  One tip I must share is to remember to never leave a project without writing good detail notes about where you left off at

Adding Roof Trim & Dormers

 At first I looked at the dormer sides and thought I must have been crazy cause I could not figure out how they went

 
Well after looking at the INSTRUCTIONS which I had put aside cause I had decided I did not need them anymore ( That's what I get Huh, I still need them ) , I figured it out and Ohh How I love the dormers and trim and all. This house has a lot of character!!

The Curved part sits right on the roof

I also added my own trim to the roof

Arthur dollhouse kit Shingles touch up paint

Okay, I have done the touch up to the shingles and they look MUCH better!

I think I will jazz up the house and add the base sooner than later. I can't picture my houses without the yard so I will start on that next even though for the most part, I am finished!! Okay....are we ever really finished with a house . Here are some more pictures and there will be more to come since I am going to do the base....TODAY!!

The doll below is Charles. He is the Real Estate agent trying to sell this guest a house that has a bedroom with flowers on the wallpaper LOL

Arthur Dollhouse Kit Tutorial Electrifying

I have decided that I  will electrify this house and I will start by showing you how I added the light bulb to my fireplace. I edit my houses as I go along and this blog will show you the method of my madness LOL .

First, I drilled a hole in the floor with my little hand drill (power tools bite. With the hand drill I have more control ). I also used my hand drill to put a hole in the fireplace itself and then I fed the wire from the light bulb in the hole and through the floor to make certain that it is the correct size. I will make glowing embers later and show you all how it's done.

I set the fireplace aside till later because I have to add my wallpaper to the walls. This is the one I chose for the fireplace room.

Building Walls To The Greenleaf Pierce - Day 3

Day 1
I added the Kitchen and dinning room wall and the front wall today. I am waiting for the hardwood floors to come in. Once it does, I will install the floors, then move forward. Meanwhile, I started adding the wallapers I have on hand to the rooms they will go in. Most times, I add the wallapers and floors and lights as I build. You will notice this as you watch this kit come together.

Day 3
I finally got the first shipment of things ordered. This one had the floors. I installed, stained and then I made Henry Sand them. I stained them again because the fumes were too strong for Henry. After that, I put 2 light coats of Varnish on them. I also satined the staircase. As you can see, I started the wallpaper downstairs. That's Right, Henry Picked out and Put up the Wallpaper here. He is so proud of his work.

The Kitchen wall paper Has been added too. There will be wood added to the bottom of the kitchen walls

Other Pierce walls

Now the other front wall has been added and the 2nd floor. Of course there will be trim but that always goes on last ;) You can see the wonderful paper added to the ceilings. The tape is holding everything together while the glue dries

Adding The Lights 
Now I will add the lights to the 1st floor before I add hardwood to the 2nd floor. Details on how this was done can be read later on because I don't want to add too many pictures to this post right now. But at this point, they are added.  This is the adding lights link on how I did this

The Kitchen
The kitchen is pretty much almost finished (missing the back wall but I can do that until I start the 3rd floor) Lena, do you like this light fixture? Let me know dear.  You can also see I finished up a lot of the trim work in the kitchen.

Another entryway to the dinning room
This is the entryway under the stairs that lead from the front door. I didn't realize it was there until I built it. This kit is just like a real life house. Full of nooks and crannies!
