My OOAK Beautiful Julie Campbell Dolls (BellaBelle Dolls)

A couple of weeks ago, I was going through my stash (early spring cleaning) and found some of my wonderful doll treasures! I have been in LOVE with Julie's dolls since I found her about 6 years ago on eBay through the eBay CDHM group there. Each of her dolls are OOAK (One Of A Kind) and hand sculpted without use of molds.

I love to look into people's eyes. It's my favorite feature on the human body and her dolls had the biggest sweetest eyes ever! I started buying her dolls for the many scenes I wish to create for myself one day. I have some Tudor period dolls, Gone with the wind dolls, I even commissioned her to do dolls of the "Chariman & Sayuri" from the Book (and Movie) Memoirs of a Geisha. This past Fall, She surprised me by making me the dolls from the Twilight Saga, Edward & Bella. I had commissioned her to make them a little over a year prior and she had a lot going on and so did I and I knew she would get around to them when she could and one morning I logged into facebook and she had tagged me in the photos of my dolls. They were done!

Anyway, I thought I would share the "Eye Candy" with you all. These are not all of the dolls I have from her. I could not find the box until a few days after I took these pictures. I'll add the other ones to this album at a later date.

To see what she has for sell or to commission her to do something for you, Go to her blog here:

Customized Dollhouses, Contest for 2011, Fitness etc...

I'm just so Excited!! Dean just sent me the "Mock Up" picture of the 2011 Greenleaf Dollhouses Spring Fling Contest Doll House and right away, I saw it in my "minds eye" being "kit bashed" ("edited" to those not used to this term) in several different ways!

I called him because we had not talked at all this week and I know we have only about 1 week or so  before he has to ship one to me to decorate for the contest. This morning I had run out to do some errands and when I got home, I sat down to do some work and thought "I should call him now before I start on something". Dean answered the phone and the first words out of his mouth was "what did you think of it"? Well, I was not at the computer nor had I checked it this morning so the next thing Dean heard was my loud scream of excitement (Sorry Dean lol)!!

I am totally in love with it and we have changed the dollhouse style for this years contest 3 times (This one is the third) and I am the most excited about this one because it can be edited to fit whatever the contestant desires. I can not wait to see the real house because the mock up is Wonderful. It is another Laser Cut house and it will be a 1" scale Dollhouse and March 20th can't come soon enough!

I am bursting with wanting to share a picture with you all but alas, I can't but I could not hide the fact that this years kit so far has me the most excited of all the past kits.

Today, I am about to start working on some more resin hand painted cellar doors. I am also working on some tables that I will be putting up for sell on eBay (or maybe I'll try selling on etsy this time). I have a lot of new items I have been working on all winter and I know I have not been selling much on ebay as I used to. I like to Thank all of my past clients who send me notes asking about what I have been working on and checking in to see if I am OK. It's great to have Clients that are also Friends!

Here is a shot of one of the cellar doors. I made the original out of wood and then I made a mold and made some resin ones to sell (it's faster to do this way and the cost is less for the customer)

I don't have pictures of the tables yet but will soon!

My next 2 projects are special order half inch scale Buttercups and then I have a Special order for a Chantilly which should take up the rest of winter and part of Spring since I also have a few other things I am working on in between those projects. I am taking custom orders for the smaller houses right now to be finished by Summers end. Unfortunately, I will not be doing any of the bigger houses this year.

I hope to have my website back up and running soon. I closed it because I had several personal things I had to take care of starting last August and finally, I have been able to take a breather and get back on track with the Miniatures. I have a lot of fun ideas floating around in my head and you should see them popping up a little at a time for purchase so keep checking my blog and my website address will still be I will make announcements when the website is up and running again! The snow is melting outside and it has me thinking of Spring.

Well, I think I better get up and start working on some things. My workout today will be Arms & Shoulders P90X. I may walk on the treadmill too later on. I am thinking of switching up my routine and am thinking of doing a new workout program Turbo Fire . I ordered it because I love the Turbo Jam work outs and this program is from the same Trainer, Chalene Johnson. I'll let you know soon when I get it and start doing it.

My Niece is getting married this Spring and so is a Friend of mine and the weddings are approaching too soon!  I gotta look good so I gotta keep fit. I Love music and the music was cool with the Turbo Jam workouts and I think I need a switch from Turbo Jam & P90X because, though I love the results, I am getting bored (which means I won't stick with it soon if I don't change it up again).

Shabby Chic Completed Dollhouse

Birds, Bunny Rabbit and a cat are the little creatures you'll see peeping around this cute little cottage! Sometimes, I get excited about a project when it begins to look like what I saw in my minds eye and this house did not disappoint me. When I looked at the bare kit, this was exactly what I saw and it was fun making it into this dream cottage pictured here.

The basic die-cut wood kit comes to the customer with wood pieces for the house. The roof that comes with this kit is corrugated cardboard. The windows and doors where square which just did not match the roof line to me so I added a different door (It is the interior doors left over from a Glencroft kit from Greenleaf Dollhouses). I added wood decorations to the tops of the outdoor window to jazz it up some and to also add a curve that was missing on these windows. I also electrified the house so that all of the lights and the outlets work and come on when plugged in. I made the statue of the little boy holding a bird. I sculpted him from creative paperclay. The roof tiles, stones and brick and even the grassy base are all created using creative paperclay. I made the rose bush with delicate rose flowers and petals. The vine next to the front of the house house 2 birds and I also made the bird house out of wood that is on the side of the house. The rose door knocker was also made by me using creative paperclay and painted floral wire.

This was a fun house to build. It is 1" scale and the measurements are 18" W x 17"H x 14 1/2" D (including the base).  It will be listed for sell here at my Minis On The Edge Store. The bed, couch, stool & chair will be included in the sell of this house. Look for the tutorial on how I created the dresser and the bed in the next Greenleaf Dollhouses Gazette Online newsletter.

My Theme Song This Week

For the past month, I have been chatting with many of my online friends. Some of them have been knowing me for 10 years or more and we know about a lot of the personal struggles and things that keep popping up in each others lives that would make some just give up. They have seen me struggle and succeed, and fall down and get back up. Likewise, I have seen them do the same.  A lot of them are the ones that encouraged me to get up and just do it. I cherish these friends.

Several of them have been going through some really trying times. Many know and hear me say all of the time things like I Play To win . I'm too stubborn to give up. sometimes, I don't feel that way, but I say it aloud because I know all things are possible if you choose and just decide to make the choice to change the way you view it. You either have to change whatever your "it" is completely or change how you view the "it's" in your life that you can not change. For example my Graves disease is something I can not change but, I have changed the way I view it. So it does not affect me in a negative way (most days) LOL.

I want you to get out your pen and paper, see what it is you want to change this year. Write down Two big changes you want to make. Then write down seven smaller things you'd have to do to help get you get to your end goal.
I have friends right now struggling with weight loss, health issues, issues with their marriages, work, financial issues, you name it, we all are struggling with some of it. About 6 years ago, I started writing goals for myself every year. 2 huge things I want to achieve by the years end or change about myself to improve myself, my life and the life of those around me. Some people have told me they think I am a "Strong Woman" or that I am "Strange" or "Weird".  I must confess, I am at times LOL. But I am only human. I don't see myself as strong but I do think I am strange at times. I see things differently from most people I am around. I don't see "dead ends" on the road. I see something blocking what I want and then the problem to solve is how to get through and have a break through to get what I want.

I get my strength from my beliefs in my God & my family and friends. Also by always trying to do something to improve myself. When I reap small successes, I feel confident to do more.  I sometimes put myself in situations that are uncomfortable for me because it helps widen my comfort zone. I also don't over do it. If I am working on one big thing, I am not going to add several other things because that will equal failure to me.  There is a saying "If you chase two rabbits, you won't catch one". So basically, Stay Focused and achieve one goal and then go after the other!!

There is a saying, "Become the person you'd like to attract". If you find yourself attracting a lot of negatives in your life. It is time for Change!!! Stop hanging around  those ones telling you what you can not do or can not achieve. C'mon, those of you working out for health with me, DON'T Give up now!! You can do this! We CAN do this!! Those of you going through other things in life, DON'T Give up!!! We can really do this!!

I've gotta do my workout today. I'm moving slow but today my work out is Legs & Back and Ab ripperX.  I would like to challenge YOU to do something. Do just One good thing for your health today. If going shopping, park your car far away from the door so you'll do more walking, if you would like to stop smoking and you smoke 10 cigarettes a day, why not smoke 9 today? Small steps and changes equal HUGE results in the long run.

I Love the band MUSE. After getting an email from 3 of my friends last night who have been going through some really tough challenges, I thought I would share this song with them. I was going to just send it to them and thought, why not share it on my blog because it may help someone else. If you don't want to hear the music turn off your volume and  READ the words! If you do turn down the volume, know there with be a long pause because this is the longer version of the song with the instrumentals in it. Wait and read it!

This one is for YOU! You know who you are. Love You and remember, YOU CAN DO IT!!

My Shabby Chic DollHouse

I finally finished the Paperclay sculpting work on this house! I hand sculpted the shingles, stones and bricks from an air dry clay called Creative Paperclay. It goes on wet, soft and it is odorless. The fact that it is odorless is the main reason why I love this one so much. It is an off-white color while wet. It dries a more pure white color and is so lightweight when it dries. Now, I can't wait to bring this to life with paint! Here are pictures of the house as of today. I will keep you all posted with progress pictures!! It looks pretty plain right now, doesn't it?

I'm A Grandma.... Not Really

Yesterday, I Became a Grandma.... Not Really, But it was as close as I hope to come to becoming one at this time in our life. Rachel's Home Economics class gives each child the opportunity to participate in the "Baby Think It Over" Program. I was surprised her school offered this and thought it would be a good idea for her to participate in it.

There are so many programs on TV that feature teenagers pregnant or engaging in sex too early and it can sometimes make young ones get the wrong idea. I was a teen Mom myself and it was nothing like the tv programs I have seen and even the ones that shows the bad side of it can never really get our children to see & feel what you give up by having a baby at such an early age. I was supposed to go to school and become a surgical nurse. That was my plan. I had my mind set on it. Even after I got pregnant, I was told by my boyfriend (who was a Senior in High School) and his parents that his mother or older sister would watch our child while I completed my last year of high school so that I could start the Nursing School program that I was registered to start in my Senior year. Both of my parents worked during the day so it sounded like a good plan. Well, it did not happen.

I had to go to night school to get my final credit hours for high school. MY mother had to help and watch my child while I went to school at night and my "boyfriend" who wanted to marry me at first and "loved" me so much ..... well, let's just say he joined the Army and basically lost interest in the idea of having a baby or a wife to think about. I was a single parent for 6 years and it was hard even with the support I had. I worked while I was pregnant to try and help buy things before I had the baby and I went to night school afterward and was working at a elementary school as a SLD (Severe Learning Disability)  Teacher's Assistant for about 7 or 8 years before I changed career's and re-discovered my love of dollhouses.

I turned out fine and all but, I had to grow up too soon. I would not have made it if it weren't for my Mom & Dad and lots of older friends I had who helped me stay focused and realize that my life wasn't over, but just changed.  My family & friends helped me to refocus and reset and I think I turned out pretty darn good because of them.

So, after thinking about the choices I made and how it changed my life's direction, it was decided that Rachel would totally participate in this program.
Yesterday, she came home with an anatomically correct baby boy (it does not wet itself or anything though)  that has an electronic sensor inside of him. His head moves back and forth so if the head is not supported correctly, he cries VERY LOUD! When she came home, we thought the doll was broke because it did not cry or make any sounds for the first 2 hours. At that time, Rachel thought it was cool that she got out of doing the 3 page typed essay (which was the other option if the child's parent did not want them to participate in the program).

As the evening turned into night time, the baby would coo or just start crying. Rachel has a bracelet that has a sensor connected to it and every time she picks the baby up when it cries, she has to put the sensor bracelet on the babies back so that she can "check in" that she (the mom) is actually the one taking care of the baby. Then Rachel has to figure out if the baby needs to be fed or changed or just rocked.

Baby Drake, woke up at 10 pm last night and woke up every 30 min to be fed or changed or rocked until 12am. Then we all went to sleep. At 3:10 am Baby Drake woke up screaming. It's been 9 years since I had a baby so I woke up confused at first LOL. After 2 min of screaming, I got out of bed to ask Rachel if she remembered to use the bracelet first. She had forgot to do that so the baby was not registering the bottle she was trying to feed it because it has to be fed by the MOM which is why she has to check in using her bracelet before the baby acknowledged being fed or changed.

After that, when she put the bottle to the babies mouth,  the baby started making slurping noises because it was hungry. It was very loud slurping. Sarah was not too happy at this point so I went in their room and turned on some nice classical music and closed the door and Rachel and I went up front. It was funny because just like a real baby, it would stop slurping but if you tried to pull the bottle away because you "think" it's asleep and finished, it would let out a loud cry.

She fed & changed Baby Drake for about 30 min and finally at 3:50 or so, he went to sleep. 5 am I woke to hear cooing sounds but he did not cry. This morning Rachel was wondering if she could do the essay and not bring the baby back home today after school. We talked about her feelings and she said she was happy she has a time limit on this and that she could give the baby back to the teacher and that she does not have a real baby. There is a classmate that she has at her school that is really pregnant right now. I can't even imagine that in 7th grade. It was difficult for me at age 17!!

On the way to school Rachel expressed her love and appreciation for me and said she thought about how hard this could be but never knew it was really like this. I got this response from her after just the first night. After school today, she has her workout class and it's her favorite one but I reminded her that I can not watch her baby while she is in class so, she'll see if she can take it to class or she may have to miss it. She is not liking that idea at all.

Today I have bags and dark circles under my eyes, but I think it is worth it so far! LOL  I personally give the "Baby think it over" program an A+ and I wish more schools would participate in it and invest in this program for our children.

Television programs Glamorize sex and early dating. I have to screen the Disney channels because my 9 year old & 13 year old are too young to date or have boyfriends. I don't want these shows making my children think they are not normal. Most children do not act like those kids on the programs and the ones that do are not the ones I want my kids associating with because that is not the future I want for them. My youngest LOVES babies but after being awaken in the night by "baby Drake" even she can't wait till the doll can be given back to the teacher, never to be seen again LOL.

So far it is a Great learning tool and instead of me "telling" her with words about what choices she should make, now she gets to experience this on a small scale and understand "why" I sometimes frown at certain songs on her iPod, tv programs and even music videos. Now she can experience why the choices she make are so important. She has always been a good girl though, but looking back at my life, so was I.

Thanks for stopping by to read my blog! Gotta do my workout. Today, Arms and Shoulders and Ab Ripper X.

February 2011 Winter Storm Wow

I have never witnessed such a powerful snow storm in all my life! It was Beautiful though. My Parents said in Chicago they had some Thunder with their Snow Storm. We missed the Thunder part but Nothing else. According to news reports, our part of Wisconsin got 2' (2 feet) of snow!!

The Girls got to  go outside in it for a little bit yesterday. They were totally excited that they had the past two days off of school. They helped their dad shovel the car out of the parking space. Our car and our neighbors cars were all buried and they had not even plowed our street yet when these pictures were taken:

This is a shot off of our back deck where we live. That street is usually busy with cars and trucks but not yesterday:

Our poor tree up front is buried in the snow today:

Today, it is very sunny out but it is Freezing cold out there so the kids can't go out an play. I Hope you are all Safe & Warm. Looks like we'll do some reading today and maybe a few craft projects so I won't hear those dreaded words.... "I'm Bored" LOL!

Painting Resin Dollhouse Furniture

I have several Resin furniture pieces that I had no use for. I used to sell them on my website but stopped when I got down to the last few because I decided to try something. The two sets I sold were really pretty pieces but, they had Horrible paint jobs. As I was building this Shabby cottage, I decided to take out my Pink Can of spray paint from Krylon. It adheres to just about anything, even the resin!!!

This is what It looked like straight from the package:

This is what it looked like after the Spray Paint:

I will add white highlights to it using the "dry" paint brush technique. I am now pleased with this little piece of furniture. So if you have any of those Ugly resin furniture pieces, You can "reupholster" it's look with a simple can of paint.
