Glencroft Dollhouse Build Completed and Finished

(The Original Date of this Blog Entry was July 28 2005)

I have been finished for a few days now. When these pictures were taken, the kitchen did not have the stone floor finished yet but I will update it later. I have added paperclay to the complete base of the house and added trim around the doorways. I am VERY pleased at how this house has turned out. My houses NEVER end up looking the way I imagine it to look in the beginning. The finished product has left me very happy. The hardest part was adding the beams and the next hard part for me was doing all of this clay work on this house B) !!

I really hope my entries in this blog help you, the reader, to see we ALL have frustrating moments while building. The thing is to keep looking ahead to the finished product and when all else fails, put down the directions and BASH & Edit the house to fit YOU!!

Thank you for reading my blog! Please contact me if you are interested in me doing a custom build for yourself or as a gift to someone you love!

Glencroft Dollhouse Build Adding The Paint

(The Original Date Of This Blog Entry Was July 22, 2005)

I have been painting the paperclay today and it looks like I will meet my deadline of being finished tomorrow!! It is amazing how the paint really brings the details out in this wonderful house!! When I added the door yesterday, I did not even glue it in cause I wanted to just "see" if it would fit. Ha, ha, Ha! I can't get the darn thing out at all!! So it is there for good.

My beautiful Dolls came in from Margaret. I had to add them because they look perfect by the stone work. I took these early this morning.

Glencroft Dollhouse Build Unpainted but Finished

(The Original Day Of This Entry was July 21, 2005)

I am finished with the basic construction of the house. I have finished my paperclay shingles and stained and assembled the front door and windows. I will not use the fence pieces that came with the house because the paper clay threw off the dimensions of it and I may use iron fences instead. I'm still undecided.

I also LOVED the design of the plastic windows that came with this house, but I wanted a lead look so I scanned them into my computer and changed the color of the lines to black. I then printed them off on transparency film and cut them to size. They turned out wonderful.

I hope to paint the stone & brick tomorrow and shingles and start on the yard. This house is VERY impressive. I had a hard time on some of the steps but after I got past the Beams, everything else was fine. I did not add the Tudor trim so I can not say how simple that part was but everything else was a breeze. I made it harder by adding all of this paper clay. B)

Glencroft Dollhouse Kit Paperclay Sculpting

(The Original Date Of This Blog Entry was July 11, 2005)

I am so behind on blogging that today I promise to get everything up to date!! I have been delayed because I ordered lights for this house and I kept getting the wrong ones even after we found out that the item number has changed. Well, after getting the wrongs ones 3 times, I kept them and decided to paint them from there shiny brass color to a black color. I used paint that people use for the car models. Once I got passed that, I was able to move on because I did not know where to hide the wires if I did the paperclay first I knew I could mask some of the wire by paperclaying last.

I have used 6 packs of 16 oz packages of paper clay so far. I have used 3 different stones on the front of the house. I have used Brick, random stone and cut stone. I also added a coach light to front entry door.

I added a dirty wash on some parts in the pictures shown because sometimes I hate just looking at the plain natural color of the clay

Now, I'll show you pictures of the roof! I have started adding the paperclay to the roof. It is a little easier than doing the individual shingles. This is the picture of the first part I started:

Everything looks pretty plain when it is not painted, doesn't it?

Glencroft Dollhouse Build Timber and Sculpting

(The Original date of this entry was on July 4, 2005)

Well, I looked at the instructions for the timber and decided I could not follow the instructions any longer B) I guess I was "born to bash" . I decided to add my own wood timber because I wanted the wood to be thicker. I stained this timber a very dark walnut. I also decided not to use the brackets accept the ones attached to the kitchen beams.

I then started adding the Paper Clay ( http://www.paperclay.com ) to the upper front windows. I drew a "mock" pattern of the stone I wish to use on the front of the house. There will be a mixture of brick, stone and stucco. I will also use paperclay for the roof shingles.

I started adding the clay to the front of this house. I started with the upper front window area and added brick (soldier bricks stand upright and common brick "lay") I will also have fallen plaster/stucco in this area.

I added the stone to the front today too. I am still working on it but won't add any other pictures after these tonight (Fireworks tonight at the lake with some of our friends!! )

I added the lamp in the entry way. I will age it later on. Thank You for stopping by to read my blog!!
