Heather's Mercantile Greenleaf Dolhouse
Well..... Guess what I did today? I finished the Brimbles dollhouse Kit. I renamed it "Heathers Mercantile" after the customer (I hope she likes that). I finished painting the house and started adding all of the trees flowers and moss all around. Tell me what you think about it I have more Pictures in my Webshots Album
FRONT
Painting The Brimbles Dollhouse Kit
I started Painting the Brimbles Mercantile kit by Greenleaf dollhouses last week. It's amazing how a little paint can make such a big difference in the overall appearance. In these pictures, I only have the 1st paint color which is basically the "dirty wash" all over the stones. I only have one color so far on the roof shingles too (Burnt Umber) There will be a total of about 4 different colors to achieve the final look of real stones and all but I am so happy that that part has started! To learn more about painting the stones, please click here for the recipe and colors I use
I'll have to touch up the trim and the porch roof parts and then add the trees and flowers and moss and a few animals of course.
:)
I also checked all lights and outlets to be sure they are working and they are so I'm happy!! More pictures to follow shortly!!

Arthur Dollhouse In Time Magazine
I was looking through my older Magazines (It's time to give some away or trash them LOL ) and I came across the September 15th 2008 TIME Magazine. In it, I found the Arthur Kit by Greenleaf Dollhouses! I am always excited to find a dollhouse in my "Real Life" stuff so I thought I would scan the picture in to share with everyone.
Have you found Minis somewhere unexpected lately? It's funny because if my family see anything miniature related in a commercial, everyone starts calling me telling me to quickly come into the room. It's funny how now, THEY notice the miniatures around them.

Paper Minis
I have been on the mailing list of Ann Vanture of PaperMinis.com for about 3 years now and I thought I would blog about the wonderful things she has. I told you all last month how my daughters come to me from time to time talking about how "bored" they are so, when I hear those words, this is another one of those creative weapons I use so that I won't keep hearing the words "I'm Bored" .
One of the best thing about the Paperminis.com site is that she actually have a club so that 2 times out of a month, you can get free projects. They are not lame things either. They are wonderful things to fill up your dollhouse bedrooms, kitchens, baths gardens and last year she even had these shadow boxes.
The link to her club of the month kits are emailed direct to your email box and they come in different scales and you can choose to download the scale you use. I usually download all four scales because my girls have dolls for all of them and use them. The scales are:
1 inch dollhouse scale (1:12)
Hitty doll scale (6.25” doll height)
Fashion doll scale like Barbie™ and reproduction dolls (1:6)
Girl doll scale like American Girl™ and My Twinn™ (1:3)
several half-inch and quarter-inch scale projects (1:24 & 1:48)
If you are not on her mailing list, I would like to suggest you get on it!! She is even having a sale this month. Try something new and have fun with your Minis!!

Paperclay On the Brimbles Dollhouse Kit
Well, I started adding the creative paperclay on this house last week. I added it to the roof to create shingles and the outside walls I have the "cut stone" look. I'll add the base tomorrow and then start painting the shingles & stones because they should be dry by then.
It's so fun to watch the houses come together!

New Twilight Bella & Edward Action Figures
Neca, The Makers of the Edward Cullen action figure from "Twilight" announced the newest set of action figures. It will come in a two pack. It's Edward with sunglasses and then his sweetheart Bella. He is 7" tall which is a little out of scale for 1" scale miniatures (that would make him 7' tall in this scale) but, he'll do. I think I love the look of these since they are dressed in modern attire. The one thing I don't like is that they can not bend their knees which means, they can only stand (or lie down I hope for the meadow scene I am doing later next month). This set is not coming out until April 20th

Dollhouse Lights Are Added
My Customer supplied the lights for this project. I added wall outlets just in case she wanted to have a little more light upstairs. I have to add more trim work and also need to firmly adhere the lights to the walls.
The one set of lights I really wanted to use were brass double candle lights but the ones she supplied just did not work right.
Now that all lights are working for sure, I can start adding the clay work on the outside of this once I finish the trim work that needs finishing.

Brimbles Mercantile Dollhouse Kit Porch & Roof
Well, I added the porch parts and the main roof and the dormer roof to this dollhouse kit. Everything is beginning to take shape. This is the front:
This is the back:This is the side:
This is the inside with my "Edward Cullen" action figure from Twilight
:) I just put him in here because I noticed that the ceiling height was so high and it is just great. The ceiling height is 10" high. I totally recommend this kit if you can find one. It has been discontinued for about 9 years now.
